Q: How can I volunteer?
We are currently blessed with many individual volunteers onsite as we are a very small affiliate.
We have an ongoing need for Lunch Donations and Long term Volunteer Liaisons (non construction) on Site to help prep, hand out equipment, sign in individuals/groups, organize lunch, take pictures, and clean up during Build days. Volunteer Liaisons are requested to make a weekly commitment (Wednesday or Saturday) for atleast 6 months.
Q: Who can volunteer?
All persons whether skilled, semi-skilled or unskilled are encouraged to volunteer.
Due to Liability concerns, construction site volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
At this time we are not able to accept applications for Community Service Hours.
Q: What can I do if I'm under 18 years old?
HFHNC strives to provide lunches to our construction volunteers; therefore we encourage children's groups to become involved by preparing or purchasing simple but nutritional lunches and beverages for our hard working volunteers.
Q: What days are homes built?
HFHNC builds two days per week, every Saturday and one day during the week, generally either Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
All volunteers are advised by the Office when to come to the Construction site.
No one should come to the site unless instructed to by the Office/Construction Staff.
The Sponsors of Habitat for Humanity in Nassau County help the organization thrive both on the build site and off. Sponsors can donate towards the building of Habitat Homes or towards fundraising events held. Whether you are part of a corporation or just and individual, you can sponsor Habitat Nassau.
